Hi, Thanks for all advice! I ordered the USB2.0 EXTERNAL 7.1 AUDIO PC SOUND CARD ADAPTOR PC204-1 on Ebay at Eupix, paid $6.99 including transport and it works! Although the site claims a CM119 it has a CM 108 as far as I can see on the packaging. No problem to me as it really works!!! No alsa needed...

I really like this initiative! Still some questions; is it just the chip that is in the audio adapter or is there anything more to look at?
If it's just the chip the selection of the right adapter becomes easier.

thanks so far! It seems to be difficult to find the right usb sound adapter in Holland. I think I have the ALSA one, but I am complete newby on linux. Could you explain what to do to load the kmod-alsa kernel module in stead of OSS?
