Help wit RealTerm Program

Post by kepten »

Hi everyone,
I got the Geiger kit and it's working fine. However, I'm having troubles with the serial data transfer.
I'm using a serial-usb converter and running RealTerm 2.0.0.57 and it seems the Geiger board is communicating with my PC (Windows 7 64-bit.) with the port settings as suggested 9600 8N1.
Maybe someone can give me some tips on how to get received data formatted like in this picture from the product site:
CPS, #####, CPM, #####, uSv/hr, ###.##, SLOW|FAST|INST

I've tried to play around with the settings but am not able to get anything like in the picture above, but something like this:

I've taken the screenshot at default settings because any change doesn't get my anywhere near a solution.
So, I would really appreciate any help!

Can you show a screenshot with the "Port" settings shown?

After you change to 9600 baud, are you clicking the "Change" button to accept the new settings?

Are you using the recommended FTDI 3.3V USB-serial cable?

Do you have fresh batteries installed in the kit?

The serial settings look ok and I'm wondering if the data is being corrupted somehow.

Thanks for your replies! I did what you suggested but to no avail.
So, I ended up getting a new cable and everything is fine now. Seems like my first cable was faulty.

I'm glad you got it working.

What was the make and model of the first cable you tried? I'm interested to know which cables work and don't work with the kit.
