I have never used JTAG myself. Afaik the most common uses are to re-flash the router in the event that the bootloader gets trashed, change flash/nvram settings, or use for debugging/kernel development.

Hi all

I have a bricked wl520-gu and i'm plannig to desolder the bcm5354 to find the JTAG pins, but i dont know what pins i must look for.
Anyone can give me further instructions? (schematic, or anything)

Were you unable to get it into firmware restoration mode? Bricking the 520GU is almost impossible to do, unless you overwrite the CFE.

Yes.
I have light only on LAN LED-s.
I managet to put it once in recovery by shorting pin 9 to GND and flashing dd-wrt.v24-12548_NEWD_openvpn_jffs_small.bin.
After 5 minutes , power off/on but again LAN LED-s lit.

I have bricked it by running:
"nvram set sdram_init=0x0009
nvram set sdram_ncdl=0
nvram commit
reboot"
