Asus 520gu serial port??

Hi,

I recently built a rs232 -ttl board to connect to the serial port on the Asus 520gu. I used the max232 with 4 - .1uf capacitors and a 78L05 regulator to supply the 5v needed for this chip. Now when i connect the rs232-ttl board to the serial port and use putty it functions properly but i had a question on this setup. Will the serial port function as a pc port does? Im trying to use the serial port on another application but it doesn't funciton as a regular pc port does.

Can you please explain what you mean by this? I have no idea what you are trying to do or what a "pc port does".
