serial garbage

Post by bobkatz »

thanks in advance for any help with this. Jeff has put together a great project, and it looks that lots of effort is made to help people here on the forum, thanks!

I am on part three of the guide, and seem to be having problems with the serial port.

I am running OSX with Zterm,
115200 N81 with no flow control (as set in the settings>connection dialog)
My USB to serial is the 3.3V adafruit cable recommended by the guide.

basically i see a lot of garbage when the router boots. Interestingly there is also the occasional recognizable word in there, but mostly garbage.
eg.
"bsystYFZ?X{??0n?88|{~|~?l|X~X{|?lv{?ww'|x/~fY?n;er6?l7ew driver usb={|?|||X~X{|0
xx{~0{???w|"

I have checked the breakout board that remaps the pins, reinstalled the FTDI drivers, checked all the settings in Zterm.

what else should i check?

thanks again
