AAC support needed

Post by djmasterg »

Hello

My name is Greg, I have built a wifi radio according to mightyohm guide. I have asus wl-520gu and trying to encode aac streaming (needed for most polish radio stations). Is there a way of upgrading the firmware or mpd or mpc ?

Thank you in advance for answering

Greg.

Or from other side - is there a possibility to make 2.4 kernel work with the newest mpd, in that way it will decode aac+ streams???

You can use a newer version of OpenWrt. I personally use openwrt 10.03, which includes mpd 0.15.8 with ffmpeg. This has AAC support (I'm assuming this works. Haven't tested it though).

Hi Jeroen

1. Can you do a simpe test for me please: put that in mpc http://u17.di.fm:80/di_discohouse_aacplus and let me know, if the sound is coming from speakers
2. Did you compile openwrt yourself, or did you use the version from website?

Thanks in advance
Greg.

Pretty sure this won't fit in the flash of the 520gu. Maybe it will fit on the 500gp v2 (what djmasterg is using), though?

True. I always use a USB memory stick for extra storage.

Just to clarify, I juse both, wl520gu and wl500gp v2. For now the 520gu gets finishing touches and will be a freestanding kitchen radio.
Do you use an usb hub working on the wl520gu to connect both sound and storage?

I'm using the Asus WL-500g (both the deluxe and premium models), not the 520U. These have 2 USB ports already. Doesn't the 520 have the option of adding an internal USB port as well? I know the 500 has an internal header to add another pair of USB ports.
