{"id":3122,"date":"2010-10-04T17:50:20","date_gmt":"2010-10-04T22:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mightyohm.com\/blog\/?p=3122"},"modified":"2022-12-28T14:45:09","modified_gmt":"2022-12-28T22:45:09","slug":"arduino-oops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mightyohm.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/arduino-oops\/","title":{"rendered":"Arduino Oops!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/mightyohm.com\/files\/flickr\/5051973365_93c169076c.jpg\" alt=\"Closeup side view under the microscope\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a closeup of resistor R1 on my new <a href=\"http:\/\/arduino.cc\/en\/Main\/ArduinoBoardUno\">Arduino Uno<\/a> board. \u00a0See how the left terminal isn&#8217;t touching the solder bump on the land pad? \u00a0That&#8217;s not good.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, my Arduino seems to work just fine with one side of the resistor open. \u00a0Arduino, don&#8217;t let the cost reduction guys see this one, or they&#8217;ll eliminate it in the next rev!<\/p>\n<p>More photos of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mightyohm\/5052304652\/in\/set-72157624971701831\/\">the tombstoned resistor on my Arduino Uno<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Arduino team has responded to <a href=\"http:\/\/wtfmoogle.com\/?p=1508\">other claims of manufacturing defects<\/a> (most of which seem fairly trivial) in their blog post &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/arduino.cc\/blog\/2010\/10\/01\/one-bad-arduino-doesnt-spoil-the-barrel\/\">One bad Arduino doesn\u2019t spoil the barrel<\/a>&#8220;.
