Re: New Build -

Weird. Did you try reflashing the router? What does the command "cat /etc/openwrt_release" give?

As for the serial cable, I've never used one, and always use the method you describe (simply flash "in the blind", as it were, and waiting 5 minutes).

Re: New Build -

Which .trx file did you use? My first thought was that you used a trx from the OpenWrt (which is configured by default as wifi access point, not as a client), and did not use the bcrm-2.4 image.

My build log

While I have been active on this forum for quite a while, I always stuck to the software side of things, and opted to simply control my MPD box(es) through some external client, such as phpmp or mpdroid. Now, however, I started my own hardware build. My progress so far can be seen at http://weblog.j...

Re: asus - arduino serial communication touch.n.go problem

I actually managed to blow up one of the serial ports on the Asus WL-500g by wiring it directly to my 5V breadboard. It became unreliable, and I was very happy the 500g has 2 serial ports, so at least I had the option of switching to the other one (which still works fine) as opposed to buying anothe...

Re: asus - arduino serial communication touch.n.go problem

You are apparently more knowledgeable about electronics than I am, but the first thing I though was an issue with voltage levels. As far as I know, the Asus routers have a 3.3V serial port, and the Arduino 5V. So at least between the Arduino TX and Asus RX pins, you would need some kind of level con...

Re: mpd output: http streaming

I tried it on a WL-500g, but never got it working. It seems that router at least simply doesn't have the processing power to decode an mp3 and re-encode it on the fly.

Re: Wireless Router, Webcam, RC Car?

I don't think you'll get this done without learning a little about the software side of things first. Getting vanilla OpenWrt on a router is not hard, so you could start with that. Then try to set it up so you can access the camera remotely, and go from there.

Re: Wireless Router, Webcam, RC Car?

The site is a little skimpy on the details of the software install. All they provide is a link to the installation instructions for OpenWrt. If you follow these instructions, you end up with a vanilla OpenWrt install, which means it is set up as an access point. It's unclear to me how this would all...

Re: OPKG url invailed

You should be able to make this work using an Arduino, but I believe you won't be able to reuse the code Jeff published, since Arduino uses its own toolchain (I have no Arduino experience though, so I could be mistaken).

Re: no airlight can not connect to network

I use WPA2-PSK with AES, and have no problem connecting. That's with OpenWRT Backfire (10.03) though.
