Opposite day: Ticking too fast!?

Post by edlobi »

Noob Question:
After soldering/assembling I turned the VR1 all the way counter-clockwise.
I turned on S1 and it ticked like crazy and the LED blinked also very fast.
Here you can see i:

Any suggestions what could be wrong?

What happens if you remove the Geiger tube?

If I remove the tube and turn it on? Nothing happens.
BUT if I then touch the minus pole of the tube holder (or the L1-103 inductor) with my finger, it clicks fast as when the tube would be installed.

OK, that is very helpful, thanks. It sounds like your Geiger tube is bad. If the tube came with your kit, you can send an email to support@mightyohm.com and I'll send a replacement.
