Spam on the forums

Post by mightyohm »

I try to delete spam as soon as I see it. Usually spam doesn't live long around here, a day at most.

However, if you see any obvious spam on the forums, send me a quick PM and I'll take care of it.

Don't respond to the spam topics, that just makes more work when I delete them.

I changed the registration CAPTCHA to see if that has any effect on reducing the amount of spam.

If we keep seeing spammers I'll try some other approaches.

Tonight I added a blacklist plugin that should help further reduce the number of spammers that are able to get past the registration questions.

The plugin may cause some false positives, so if anyone has trouble registering or posting, send me a note thru the contact form on the blog.

Jeff,
I just started getting SPAM email sent to the email address I used to register here. It is a unique address, used ONLY to register on these forums.
