Really Dumb Question about what this does

Post by shenanigans »

I really just need some clarification. When you say you reset fuse bits with this HV programmer, does the chip retain its original programming or does it need to be reprogrammed?

Also, I believe your 1st version of this product supported ATMEGA64 chips but the new one doesn't list them. I assume it will work since it support HVP and the only reason you didn't list it was because it doesn't fit in your sockets. Is that correct.

Thanks

The chip will retain the program stored in flash. Only the fuse bits are changed.
You are correct - the ATMEGA64 should work if wired correctly, though I haven't explicitly tested it with the new design and it is not officially supported.

Just to make sure, this won't undo any lock bits that have been set right?

The lock bits should be unaffected, but I don't think fuses can be changed if the lock bits are set.
