Breadboarding HV Rescue Shield 2

Post by AlxDroidDev »

Hello, Jeff!

I am about to try a breadboard version of the HV Rescue Shield 2, using the schematics you provided. I have just one Atmega328 (non P) I have to revive, so I figure I'd give it a shot on a breadboard and that's it.

Here are my 2 questions:
- Can I replace the MUN5311DW1T1G with discrete components? (4x 10k Ohm resistors + 1 PNP + 1 NPN). I plan on using 2N3906 and 2N3904 since they are complementary. Or is there an easier way to replace the MUN5311 ?

- I plan on using the MAX662AEPA+ (http://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX662A.pdf) as a replacement for the LT3464. Will that work?

Thanks and best regards.

You can replace the MUN with discrete transistors. The DC-DC converter would require a new circuit but any 5V-12V converter should work..

I just replaced it with a NPN BJT with a 1k on the base and 1k on the collector, with the collector also connected to the reset pin on the target. When the base goes high, the reset pin on your target will go low, and vice versa.

You have to tweak the 2.1.2 code to account for this, since it's programmed for non-inverting 12v on the reset.

Of course, this is probably a little late for you.
